Mission and Role

Office of Technology Transfer and Partnerships (OTTP) provides a complete array of services to support the NIH Center for Translational Therapeutics (NCTT) technology development and partnership activities. A large part of OTTP's responsibilities include the day-to-day negotiations of transactional agreements between the NCTT and outside parties, including universities, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.

These agreements provide for:

  1. The exchange of research materials under the Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs);
  2. Collaborative research conducted under cooperative research and development agreements (CRADAs);
  3. Clinical studies to determine the safety and efficacy of new agents under clinical trial agreements (CTAs); and
  4. Exchange of confidential information under confidential disclosure agreements (CDAs).

OTTP also reviews employee invention reports and makes recommendations to the NIH's Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) concerning filing of domestic and foreign patent applications. The NIH OTT also assists in the licensing all NCTT technology.
